The fragrance of the Luban has a long-lasting effect. These grayish-white or greenish resins are extracted from Boswellia Sacra tree species that are found in abundance in the southern part of Oman. These trees have been here for thousands of years and have aged for more than a couple hundred years. The resins are hand-harvested by the locals using authentic methods for sourcing the high-quality resins. The process of harvesting is not easy as it requires special skills, expertise, and patience to excrete the milky resins, which may take up to 2 weeks from collection to solidification. The Hojary Frankincense resins are generally harvested from the months of April to June.
